Various parts of Msunduzi can expect to be without power on Thursday and Friday as substation repairs are to be carried out.
The Mason Primary substation is currently out of action since a recent explosion.
The municipality's Thobeka Mafumbatha says technicians have had to resort to rotating areas receiving supply.
She says power cuts can be expected in some areas from 11am until later this afternoon (approximately 4pm).

"There is an outage which is going to affect theses areas: Masons Mill, Transit Area, Eden Gardens Hospital, Afrox, Westgate Grange, Ridge Park, Petrich Industrial Area, Part of Bisley, Part of Pelham Area, Fair Meade.
"The exercise to switch off electricity supply is a necessity for continuity of supply to all affected areas. We do appeal to remain patient," says Mafumbatha.
