Power cuts eased to stage 2
Updated | By Newswatch
Eskom says efforts to stabilise the national grid are showing positive results.

The utility eased the rolling blackouts to stage 2 on Tuesday morning.
South Africans felt the strain of load shedding again when Eskom imposed stage 6 of the power cuts over the weekend, and later downgraded them to Stage 4.
The power producer said it had suffered multiple unit trips.
Since Sunday, it has managed to bring eight out of 10 generation units back online.

Eskom's spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says they are still busy replenishing their emergency reserves.
"These positive developments support our ongoing focused efforts to stabilise the power supply and ensure reliability.
"Currently, unplanned outages are at 13,690MW, which is 690MW higher than our summer outlook base case of 13 000MW. Ongoing planned maintenance stands at 7,245MW, that is at increased levels in order to prepare for winter and meet licence and regulatory requirements."
