Powa laments killing of four women in KZN

People Opposing Women Abuse (Powa) has condemned the killing of four Durban women.

Police recovered the naked bodies of two victims, aged 17 and 30 years, at a parking lot in Isipingo on Sunday.

On Monday, a Hillcrest police constable appeared in court for allegedly shooting two women in Botha's Hill on Friday.
Powa's Thandiwe McCloy says all sectors of society need to commit to the fight against gender-based violence.
"These horrific incidents of violence against women highlight that South Africa has some of the highest rates of gender-based violence and femicide in the world."

"According to the South African Police Service, a woman is murdered every three hours in the country and the World Health Organisation states that our femicide rate is five times the global average."
