Post Office in 'final stages of fundraising'
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
SA Post Office CEO Mark Barnes says it's only a matter of weeks before they resolve the problems faced by workers, some of whom have gone on strike.

He says the Post Office Board of Directors will be meeting to find a way forward.
"We're really taking the proposal as to how to deal with it to our board which has been approved. We feel it is inappropriate to engage in a negotiation with labour until we actually have the money.
"So we're in the final stages of our fundraising but until you have capital, you're sitting down and making hollow promises. We believe it is a process to wait until we have our funding in place and then sit down and negotiate a deal," he said.
Today was day 1 of the workers strike, but Barnes says it didn't impact operations.
He says less than 1% of employees are involved in the strike.
However, the Communication Workers Union say they're expecting up to a thousand strikers to march through the Durban CBD tomorrow, to hand over a memorandum of demands to an official of the SA Post Office.
