Possible jail time for CV fraud
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Lying about your qualifications on your CV could get you jailed for up to 5 years.
This follows the introduction National Qualification Amendment Bill which aims to deal will with qualification fraud. Those found guilty of lying about their qualification could be jailed and added to a list of those named and shamed.
D&K Management Consultants' Kyle Condon says a name-and-shame list will help protect the integrity of the hiring process by deterring dishonest applicants.
"I think naming and shaming is the way to go. One of our biggest challenges is that we do not have a name and shame list which a lot of countries have adopted", he said.
"I think we should be a central database one can refer to where applicants are captured onto. That would make life easier going forward. I do not see why these people should get off the hook so easily", Condon said.
He says there is fraud in one out of every 15 CVs they come across.
