Education Committee emphasizes parent, teacher communication.

The Portfolio Committee on Education says the relationship between principals and community members needs work if matric results at under-performing KwaZulu-Natal schools are to improve.
The committee today concluded its visits to some schools in the province, including a few that had no matric passes.
Committee chairperson Linda Hlongwa-Madlala says at some of these schools, parents blame teachers for bad results.
Hlongwa-Madlala says these schools will be closely monitored by the department as they implement turn-around strategies.
"Meaning there must be constant monitoring on the site not only to monitor curriculum delivery but also to assist the principal with the school improvement plan and human relations.
In one school we discovered that there were strange relations, the community has got issues with the principal," she said.
