Port Shepstone gran awaits UK govt's decision
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The 92-year-old Port Shepstone granny who was due to be deported from the UK last week is waiting anxiously for the decision by the British government on whether to allow her to remain in the country.
The British Home Office cancelled removal directions for Myrtle Cothill pending the outcome of a psychological assessment.
She'd been told previously to check herself in for deportation at Heathrow Airport last Tuesday.
The psychological assessment has concluded there is a significant risk that Corthill could die within three months if she is made to return to South Africa where she says she has no family left.

Her barrister Jan Doerfel says a decision is expected this week.
"The medical report basically showed that a removal will be likely to result in a shortened life expectancy based on the number of factors. The doctor found that she is suffering from severe depression and severe anxiety," he said.
Cothill has no family living in South Africa.
