Popular musician Mampintsha laid to rest
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says the music industry in Durban won’t be the same without award-winning gqom and kwaito musician Mandla Maphumulo.

Dube-Ncube paid her final respects to Maphumulo, also known in the industry as Mampintsha, during his funeral at the Durban ICC on Friday.
Mampintsha died on Christmas Eve after suffering a stroke.
He leaves behind his wife, gqom artist Bongekile Simelane, also known as Babes Wodumo, and their one-year-old son.
Dube-Ncube told mourners that his death really is a huge loss for the province as a whole.
"It is not easy sometimes to understand the loss. Mampintsha was one of our best ambassadors opening up our province's potential to the world, creating jobs in the industry and the generations to come. So today, we are better for life and we have no doubt that where he has fallen, there are thousands that are waiting to take forward his spear and to soldier on where he left off," said Dube-Ncube.
