Popcru to keep fight for better wage offer
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) says it will continue to put pressure on government over 3 percent wage increase that's been imposed on the public sector.
Public servants are demanding a rise of at least 6 percent.
The union's Richard Mamabolo says the public sector hasn't received salary hikes over the last three years.
He says they're working with federations COSATU, FEDUSA and SAFTU to hold more talks with the government in the coming year aimed at improving the offer.
He says government took a unilateral decision and they're not satisfied with it.
"As labour, we are quite confident that we will be taking the process forward.
"We are quite adamant that we will not allow for the three percent to be the ultimate offer where [the decision] was taken without taking any form of consultation."
