Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The case against the truck driver who crashed into a bakkie in Pongola, killing 20 people including 18 children, is headed to trial.

Sibusiso Siyaya appeared in the Pongola Magistrates' Court on Friday.
The 28-year-old Siyaya was indicted today.
He will have to answer to 20 counts of culpable homicide.
In September, his truck collided head-on with a bakkie that was transporting schoolchildren aged between five and 13 on the N2.

An assistant teacher who was travelling with them was also killed, along with the driver.
The NPA's Natasha Kara says the case now goes to a higher court.
"The matter has been transferred to the Mtubatuba High Court, where he will appear on 22 January 2024, for a pre-trial conference."
Siyaya was denied bail earlier this year after the state prove he was a flight risk.
