Pomeray protest: MEC awaiting roads damage assessment
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Transport MEC Bheki Ntuli is still waiting for an assessment report on the damages to the R33 road in Pomeroy.
Protesting residents used pickaxes and other tools to dig holes into the road during a service delivery protest. They were complaining about electricity and water supply as well as jobs.
Three people were arrested for public violence.
Ntuli says he's not making promises of the road being fixed.
"There are too many roads that we have to focus on that have already been budgeted for under programs", he said.
"Therefore I am not keen on returning to repair these deliberate damages", Ntuli said.
