Policeman airlifted to hospital after Isipingo shooting

According to the SAPS, around 15 police officers have been killed in KZN during the course of 2016 - both on and off-duty.

The news comes in light of three officers being shot and injured in the field of duty, this week alone.
On Wednesday, another policeman was shot and injured at the Pelgrim train station on Fayers Place, in Isipingo.
Rescue Care's, Ceron Lennox says
when paramedics arrived on scene, they were escorted by police officials to the injured officer - who was lying in a dense bush.
"The member was shot in the leg. We then got him out of the bush safely, and then got him through to the helicopter - where we then transported him to hospital with the SAPS helicopter," she said.

The officer is currently receiving treatment at Durban's Netcare St Augustine's Hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Police are investigating.
