Police will fight back, says Phiyega

National police commissioner Riah Phiyega says officers will not back down in the fight against police killings.
Addressing the media on the issue in Johannesburg yesterday Phiyega says criminals must think again before targeting men and women in blue.
At least 60 officers have been killed so far this year.
ANC MP Jerome Maake said during a Parliamentary debate yesterday that police have been taken for granted for too long.
''Police are people who have families like the rest of us but surely we forget about them when we move around in safety and comfort, who always put their lives on the line for us. Protecting our assets while they have none.
"They secure our safety and comfort while no one is securing theirs. We always take them as some instruments or objects who ensure our safety and protection,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Gauteng Police Commissioner Lesetja Mothiba confirmed yesterday that two suspects thought to be involved in the murder of two officers in Dobsonville had been shot and killed.
