Police searching for suspect following foiled Phoenix hijacking

KwaZulu-Natal police are appealing for help in tracking down a suspect following an attempted hijacking in the Phoenix area, north of Durban.

Four men who had allegedly been driving a stolen vehicle tried to hijack a motorist in Esselen Crescent on Friday night.
SAPS spokesperson, Thulani Zwane the men approached the target before they were disturbed by a neighbour who fired a gunshot.
Zwane says the men tried to escape in their own getaway vehicle.
"Metres away the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence. He died instantly," he said.
Two other suspects were arrested and will be charged with attempted hijacking.
They are due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
Officers are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspect to come forward.
