Police react to Phoenix brutality claims after video released

KZN officials have reacted to an alleged police brutality incident after a video purporting to show this was widely circulated.
Police have dismissed as untrue reports of police brutality after a video emerged showing the arrest of a woman in Westham, Phoenix, north of Durban.
In the footage, the woman is heard screaming while being escorted into a police van. A motorist is seen stopping near the scene of the incident and briefly speaking to the police.
In a statement, the police say the woman was heavily intoxicated and was placed into the vehicle and taken home.
Police say a case relating to the incident has not been opened.
