KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating a rape case after a woman was attacked while walking to a friend's home in Verulam, north of Durban.

It is believed the 27-year-old woman was approached by a man who offered to show her a shorter way to the home.
"A case of rape was opened at the Verulam police station last night after a 27-year-old woman was raped by unknown suspects," police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala said.
Gwala says the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
