Police officers hijacked in Durban

Two Durban police officers who stopped to help what they thought was a couple in distress have instead found themselves at the centre of an early morning hijack drama.
They were hailed down by a couple during the early hours of this morning.
But the couple then turned on them, robbing them of their patrol van and their service weapons.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thulani Zwane says the officers were stopped in the Umbilo area.
Police are investigating a case of hijacking and robbery.
