Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Constable Jabulani Mavundla.
Mavundla died after he and his partner were ambushed.
They had been called out to a robbery.
Mavundla was shot before losing control of their vehicle and crashing into a tree. His partner was not hurt.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the suspects were arrested in Empangeni and will appear in court soon.
"They were found in possession of two firearms taken from the officer during the attack. They are expected to appear in the Eshowe Magistrate's Court on charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery," he said.
