Police monitor Queen Nandi Drive protest
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe

It is understood parents of pupils who go to Quarry Heights Primary School took to the streets earlier today demanding that certain teachers be hired on a permanent basis.
They burnt tyres earlier barricading a section of the road. Police say it has since been reopened.
Spokesperson Thulani Zwane says police are still at the scene trying to monitor the situation.
''The police were deployed to the scene after receiving information that there is a protest action at the Quarry Heights Primary School.
''It is alleged that parents are complaining about the shortage of teachers at the school. The protest is under control now as police are at the scene monitoring the situation,'' he said.
The Education Department says they are disappointed by the protest action as they have adequately provided for the shortage of teachers at the school.
