Police monitor Quarry Road following violent protest
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The situation on Quarry Road in Durban has quieted down but police are still keeping a close eye on the area.

There have been violent protests there since this morning by residents of the nearby informal settlement.
The road is strewn with everything from rubbish, to broken glass and rocks - with the smoke from burning tyres still visible.
It's believed cars were also stoned during the demonstration this morning.
Earlier, a man was electrocuted there by illegal electricity connections while trying to run away from police who were trying to arrest him.
Paramedics also had their hands full as they had to treat about a dozen children whose ages range from a few months to 5 years - as well as some adults - after they were exposed to the teargas that police had used to try and disperse the protesters.
One community member from the Quarry Road West informal settlement spoke to Newswatch and says their grievances are mainly with the area's councillor and the eThekwini municipality, how they say have failed to provide them with basic services, including electricity.
Police say they will maintain a presence in the area to ensure the violence does not flare up again during peak hour traffic.
