Police monitor Marrianridge protest
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Motorists are being urged to avoid Milky Way Road in the Marrianridge area, outside Pinetown.
Protestors, who are believed to be unhappy over housing issues, have barricaded the road with burning tyres and other debris.
"There was protest action yesterday, but it seems to have escalated this morning. Various members in the area had been burning tyres and other debris. Basically there was no entry to the area," said eyewitness, Jody Bowes.
The police's Thulani Zwane says police are on scene.
"Police are monitoring and patrolling the area. They are making sure that there's no damages or injuries," he said.
