Police ministry to visit family of slain KZN cop in Port Edward

A delegation from
the police ministry will descend on the south coast on Tuesday, where a warrant
officer and his family were killed.

Roger Mavundla, his wife, and their two daughters - between the ages of 17 and 10 - were shot in an ambush in Port Edward on Saturday.
Police Ministry spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba says they were in their vehicle at the time.

"The officer, his wife and two children sustained fatal wounds and died on the scene while a third child is being treated at a local hospital.
“The visit to Port Edward will see the provincial SAPS brief the police ministry on the crime patterns in the policing area and interventions in place to deal with violent crime and other contact crimes.
"The visit will also include a comfort visit to the Mavundla family home.”
