A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with three murders and six attempted murders at the hostel.

The police's Jay Naicker says a multi-disciplinary team, including members of the National Intervention Unit, carried out an intelligence driven operation at Blocks 51 and 56 on Sunday.

The three murders the suspect has been linked to occurred in March. Naicker says the man is due to appear in court soon.

"He will be charged for these matters however, investigations are still continuing into his possible involvement in other cases emanating from the Glebelands hostel. We're very pleased with the investigation despite very difficult circumstances.

"Our detectives are persevering with investigations on the Glebelands hostel. We once again appeal to residents from the hostel to please come forward with information that will assist our investigation team," he said.
