Police make arrest in Lamontville murder
Detectives have arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly killed an elderly woman at her home in Lamontville.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the 67-year-old was at her home on Tuesday night when she was assaulted by a man with a sharp weapon and Sjambok.
Zwane says she died later in hospital.
"The community members handed over the suspect to police and he was charged accordingly. We are also commending the members of the public for handing over the suspect to the police and not to take the law into their own hands."
The man's due in court today.
