Police kill man caught cutting girlfriend's stomach open
Police watchdog-IPID- is investigating a case of death as a result of police action, after officers allegedly gunned down a man found cutting the stomach of his murdered girlfriend in Amaoti, north of Durban.
The 34-year-old apparently stabbed and killed his girlfriend after he paid her a visit on New Years Day, when the matter was reported to police.
On arrival, officers found the man busy cutting the girlfriends body open before trying to attack the police.

IPID spokesperson Grace Langa says in a statement that's when the police shot him dead.
Three 9mm empty cartridges were found on the scene and the knife was also recovered. Processes to identify the woman are still underway.
