Police keep close watch on R74 protests near Kranskop

KZN police have been deployed to Kranskop after protest action flared up on the R74, earlier today.
Police say hundreds of people are upset that a local burial site was dug up.
The roadway has been barricaded since this morning with debris and broken glass bottles.
"About 300 protesters blocked the road complaining about a farmer. The police with other stakeholders - like public order policing and the Road Traffic Inspectorate - are on scene. They are clearing up the road," the police's Thembeka Mbhele said.
Meanwhile on Sunday, a man who suffered a gunshot wound during unrest between Colenso and Weenen - later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

An inquest docket has been opened, while a case of public violence and malicious damage to property is being investigated.
