Police investigate alleged racist attack at Bloem holiday resort

Police in the Free State are investigating a case of assault following an attack on two black teenagers by a group of white adult men at the Maselspoort Holiday Resort outside Bloemfontein on Christmas Day.
In a video that went viral on social media, white males are seen ordering the teenagers out of the pool.
The altercation escalated to the men shoving and grabbing the boys by the throat and pulling their hair.
Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said police rushed to the resort after receiving a call regarding a fight that had broken out.
"After receiving a call that there’s a fight at the resort, the police rushed to the scene but on arrival, some of the people that were involved were no longer there", says Makhele.
"A case of common assault has been opened.
'When we got to the report, we couldn’t decide on the sentence - therefore, the charges will be done by the state prosecutor.
"We had to obtain other statements for the prosecutor to decide if there are additional charges.
"We can confirm that the part of the investigation from our side is almost complete and the docket will now be tabled to the senior state prosecutor.
"Once the prosecutor has made the decision, we can take it from there and make arrests."
