Police investigate after gruesome discovery of missing KZN toddler

KZN police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a toddler whose body was found in a pit latrine in KwaDukuza in the iLembe District.
The three-year-old's grandmother told police she left the child in the toilet yesterday and went back in the house to switch off the stove.
The woman called police when she returned to the toilet and could not find her granddaughter.

Family and neighbours joined police and other emergency crews in searching for the missing child.
KwaDukuza fire fighters were also called to drain the pit latrine of water and waste which then led them to the discovery of the girl's body.
