Police probe after bodies of mother and child found in Tongaat
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A double murder investigation is underway after the bodies of a woman and her five-year-old child were found in a shallow grave in Tongaat.
KZN police say a passerby who had been walking in a bushy area late yesterday had alerted them.
"A passerby who was walking saw some blood on the footpath and called the police to attend. When police arrived at the scene, they followed the blood and they discovered that there were two bodies buried in a shallow grave," says the police's Thulani Zwane.
Zwane says they're yet to identify the 25-year-old and the little girl, who was found buried underneath her mother.
"Two counts of murder were opened for further investigation, up to now there's been no arrests made," Zwane says.
