Police have launched a manhunt after yet another police officer was shot and killed in Lindelani, west of Durban.

Police had been patrolling Toyitoyi Road in Lindelani's D section last night - when they noticed a man walking alone and tried to stop him.
In a statement, police say Constable Sabelo Nikwe got out the vehicle and approached the suspect - who then fled.

The police's Thembeka Mbhele says while the police gave chase, the suspect started shooting at the officers - hitting and killing 28-year-old Nikwe.
"He was shot in the stomach, and he was taken to a clinic by his colleagues but died on arrival. Members of the public are requested - if they have any information about that man who shot and killed the police, they must come forward," she said.
A case of murder has been opened at the Ntuzuma police station, and police are investigating.
