A woman was found beaten and raped on the M19, near the Westville off ramp yesterday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the woman was found several hours after she was attacked.

Gwala says she had managed to roll her herself into the view of passersby.

She says she was naked and bound.

"A 58-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man who promised her employment. The suspect dragged the victim to the nearby bushes where he raped her," she said.

Cases of robbery and rape have been opened.

The location as well as the modus operandi both suggest it could be the work of a man police have been hunting since September 2016.

At least 14 other cases have been reported since then.

Gwala says police are working on establishing if there's a link.

"We will investigate and try to see if it is the same suspect," she said.
