Police confirm arrest in Pietermaritzburg murder case

Police have confirmed the man believed to behind the murder of a Pietermaritzburg nurse is behind bars.
Nontobeko Kheswa was found stabbed to death in a sugarcane field this weekend.
Police say the suspect was arrested after he and an accomplice allegedly firing shots at a car with four occupants near a shopping centre in Edendale this weekend.
Among the occupants were a male nurse said to be Kheswa's colleague.

Two of the occupants were wounded.
The police's Thulani Zwane says they tracked the suspect's car and apprehended him. He was later linked to Kheswa's murder.
"An unlicensed firearm was found. A knife suspected to be used in the killing of a woman at Mountain Rise was found in his possession."
Zwane says the man will face another murder case - opened at Mountain Rise police. He will appear in court facing four charges of attempted murder and that of the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
