Police call for witnesses in KZN ANC member's death

KZN police have appealed to anyone who has information on the murder of an ANC activist to come forward.

Lungisani Mnguni was gunned down in Mkhambathini Local Municipality yesterday morning.  


He had been on his way to deliver food to a school in the Enkanyezini area when he was shot. 


The ANC's Siphamandla Khumalo says the 34-year-old was involved in the province's school nutrition programme in the area.


"We are calling everyone who might have information about what has happened and appeal to the law enforcement agencies to ensure things are brought to book," he says.

The police's Nqobile Gwala has confirmed that Mnguni was shot and killed by a group of unknown suspects.


"The suspects fired shots at him and fled in their getaway vehicle.The victim's vehicle crashed and he alighted, he crashed into an embankment where he died. Motives for the killing is still unknown at this stage and a case of murder has bee opened for investigation," she says.
