Police open probe into Comrades athlete's death
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Culpable homicide investigations are now underway into the death of Comrades Marathon runner, Vusi Msibi.

The 49-year-old father of two passed away in hospital, almost a week ago, as a result of the severe injuries he had sustained after being hit by a car in Durban North last month.
The driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving him in a critical condition on the road.
Msibi had suffered a fractured skull in the accident.

There have been allegations that a municipal vehicle was involved in the alleged hit-and-run.
eThekwini says it is conducting its own investigation to find out which of its 5,000 cars might have been involved in the crash.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele explained that a case could only be opened after the incident was reported to police.
"We will only open a case if we are given information or if we are aware of that incident. We cannot open a case if no one has reported it to the police. In some cases involving accidents, the police become the complainants. We only obtain statements from witnesses if we find them," Mbhele said.
