KZN police say all plans are in place to ensure the safety of those attending tonight’s South African Music Awards at the Durban ICC.

Officers are urging motorists who will be parking their vehicles on the side of the road not to leave valuables where would be criminals can see them. Spokesperson Thulani Zwane is advising motorists to rather make use of underground parking. "
Zwane says officers will be on high alert, adding that the SAMAs are an important event on the city’s calendar.
"They must ensure that their vehicles are properly locked and all windows closed. The police will be deployed in and around the vicinity of the ICC to ensure there is peace and no crime in the area," he said.
The country’s top musicians will be honoured in a host of categories at the annual awards ceremony.
