Police attacked, robbed by gang in Umbubulu

KwaZulu-Natal police are hunting down four suspects who attacked police in Umbubulu, south of Durban.

Officers who were on patrol stopped a suspicious car with four occupants on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says the police officers were overpowered.
Their firearms and a police vehicle were stolen.
"The suspects fled in their own vehicle as well as the police vehicle. All police officers as well as other law enforcement were immediately notified and the suspects were spotted in close proximity to where the robbery occurred," says Naicker.

"A chase ensure and the suspects lost control of the police vehicle which overturned. The suspects abandoned the police vehicle and fled in their own vehicle.
"All available resources have been mobilised to hunt down the suspects and bring them to book. Police in Umbumbulu have registered a case of armed robbery."
