KZN police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after yesterday's horrific crash on the M4 in Durban North that claimed the lives of two cyclists.
The motorist, said to have been drunk, lost control of his Golf GTI near the Swapo Road off-ramp at around 5am yesterday. Emergency services say the two riders had been part of a group of about 40 who'd been on an early morning ride.
The incident has sparked a debate about safety issues involving cyclists and motorists.

Cycling South Africa's Mylene Paynter is urging government and communities to come together to create designated cycling areas on roads across the country.
"There are a lot of cyclists on the roads and it always comes to the fore when its a big accident with group of cyclists training for a race.
It requires the support of the community as well, people to drive projects and liaise with the municipalities. I think the big crux is going to be funding," she said.
