Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The 20-year-old mother who was was arrested over a week ago after trying to sell her child on Gumtree has abandoned her bail application in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court.
The woman has been charged with human trafficking and made her second appearance in court today.
She was arrested when an undercover policeman pretended to want to buy her 19-month-old son, for whom she had asked for R5 000.
Police say the young mother claims she could not look after the child alone, as the boy's father was not paying maintenance.
The National Prosecutions Authority's Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says the case has been postponed.
"The matter was set up for bail application. However the accused abandoned her bail application. The matter was remanded to November 5 for legal aid," she said.
