PMB dog attack: Family struggles to cope with woman's death
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The family of a 32-year-old woman who was mauled to death by her dogs yesterday in Pietermaritzburg says the dogs grew up with her and had always loved and protected her.
Speaking to Newswatch from their Braithwaite Road home where prayer vigils have begun, Mpho Mokoena's sister Mmabatho says they cannot wrap their heads around what happened yesterday.
Mpho, who was a special-needs individual, died after the two rottweilers and a boerboel turned on her yesterday morning at the home.
A distraught Mmabatho has dismissed claims the dogs were troublesome, asking that people respect them during this difficult time.
She says her sister leaves behind a three-year-old boy.
