This week the Pietermaritzburg High Court handed them each three life sentences and a total of 120 years.

Officers got word about a gang that was planning to target a cash van travelling to Harding.

Their vehicles were intercepted on the N2.

Police say the occupants opened fire when told to stop.

During a shootout, three of the suspects were killed and one was injured.
