Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
A murder investigation's been launched after a couple was shot and killed in Pietermaritzburg.
They'd been travelling from their home in Hardingsdale when their bakkie was shot at.
The police's Mthokozisi Ngobese says the pair was found in their vehicle on Old Greytown Road in Pietermaritzburg.
"I can confirm that a couple was travelling when they were shot by a hail of bullets and both succumbed to their injuries. The female is approximately 40years of age and the male is approximately 50 years of age respectively. So we are dealing with two counts of murder."
The motive is not yet clear and no one has been arrested.
The shooting happened just 24 hours after two men were found dead inside a double cab bakkie in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.
That incident is suspected to be taxi industry related.
