Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee of Police says there's been an increase in assassinations and attempted hits on whistleblowers, prosecutors, judges and forensic investigators.
Ian Cameron's remarks come after SARS Advocate, Coreth Naude was shot and injured while waiting at a boomgate of an Umhlanga hotel on Thursday night.
She was in the city as part of a team investigating a tax case involving a Durban businesswoman.

Cameron says he's spoken to KZN Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi about the incident.
"They've informed me that yes, they already put people in place to make sure that groups visiting KZN are safe.
"I also think that the relevant body that employ whoever the investigator is, or the lawyer is, it must inform the management of South African Police Services for them to be able to put the necessary plans in place."
