Planned maintenance at Midmar Treatment Works goes smoothly

Umgeni Water says the essential maintenance work carried out on the Midmar Dam Treatment Plant yesterday was successful - and it was completed ahead of schedule.
The utility's Shami Harichunder says it took technicians around nine of the allocated 16 hours to complete the work.

He says there were no shortages reported during the shutdown period.
"We are very pleased with the work and the outcome. Everything now is back to normal. Midmar Water Plant is now producing water as per agreed conditions during a drought," he said.
Umgeni Water says the work carried out is to ensure the security of the region's future water supply.
