Pinetown water safe to drink following contamination scare - eThekwini
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Municipality says it's now safe for Birchwood Park residents in Pinetown to drink tap water.
This after the city had to run tests and drain the water from the local reservoirs two weeks ago, following reports of water contamination.
The city says specialists who conducted these tests indicate that the water quality is within acceptable standards.

Meanwhile, the DA's eThekwini councillor Yogiswarie Govender has welcomed the report that the water supplied to the area is safe to drink.
"In a water-scarce city such as ours where sewer spill and contamination is becoming the norm, we want to impress upon eThekwini's scientific services unit to test more frequently and update the website at least weekly.
"We are, however, pleased that matter was addressed swiftly."
