Four more suspects thought to be part of a gang responsible for the surge in crime in Pietermaritzburg will be back in court next week.
They were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation over the weekend, days after seven other alleged gang members were killed during gunfire exchange with police in Scottsville.
During another operation on Saturday, a task team narrowed in Woodhouse Road and arrested four men.
The NPA in KwaZulu-Natal's Natasha Kara says 44-year-old Lwazi Shelembe, 24-year-old Nkanyiso Sibiya, 26-year-old Thulebona Maphumulo and 25-year-old Mlondi Khumalo briefly appeared in court on Monday.

"Shelembe was found in possession of a firearm with 62 rounds of ammunition. Sibiya was found in possession of a firearm with 68 rounds of ammunition.
"Maphumulo was found in possession of a prohibited firearm which means that the serial number was scratched off and possession of 18 rounds of ammunition, while Khumalo was found in possession of a firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition."
Kara says they are facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
