PICS: Political leaders pay their respects to Zulu royal family in Nongoma
Updated | By Newswatch
A host of dignitaries, including former president Jacob Zuma arrived in Nongoma to pay their respects to the Zulu royal family on Sunday afternoon.
King Goodwill Zwelithini succumbed to COVID-19 complications last Friday.
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma addressed the family at Kethomthandayo Royal Palace.
" We are here to join the Royal House in the passing of his majesty the King. We have lost the pillar of strength, who has been a guiding star for us, showing us light and direction at all time. The Zulu nation and South Africa at large is mourning. His contribution is known in the country and other countries."
Earlier in the day, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi confirmed that the Zulu monarch will be buried during a private ceremony at night.
