PICS: Pinetown family home gutted in devastating fire
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A Pinetown father says his family is devastated after their home of 12 years went up in flames.
Themba Cele says the fire started is thought to have started in one of the bedrooms on Wednesday afternoon.
He says he and his wife were at work and their three sons in school - when he got a call from their gardener at around noon - that the house was ablaze.
Cele says he has not slept.
He says he's been keeping an eye on what's left of the property and the belongings they managed to save.
"My feeling right now I am distorted. Yesterday, I was feeling a little bit better because it hadn't sinked in. I had to sleep in the garage last night so that I can keep an eye on some of the things.
"I woke up around about 02:20 am this morning and I have been up since then and also, like look at my home, the tears just run down my face.
The community of Underwood has rallied around the family, donating food, clothes and school supplies.
