eThekwini Fire's Dennis Govender says the owner of the home managed to get out of the house before firefighters arrived at the scene.
"I had two crews out there and we were quite effective when we were extinguishing the fire. Our investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing - as we couldn't determine it at that stage. The owner who was asleep was awoken by the flames and has no idea himself," he said.
