PICS: Gauteng hit by hail storm
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Disaster management teams are assessing the damage in and around Johannesburg after a hail storm hit parts of the Gauteng province yesterday.
Homes were destroyed and flights were delayed at the OR Tambo Airport following unfavourable weather conditions.
Earlier yesterday, the SA Weather Service issued a warning of thunderstorms, with hail and strong winds.
This comes as water restrictions were implemented in Johannesburg after the city was declared a drought stricken area.
More rain is expected this week in the province.
