Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Lamps have been lit across the country and the world to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
Celebrated by Hindus and Tamils, the festicval will see devotees light up the skies with fireworks, share confectionary and dress up in traditional attire.
President Zuma has extended well wishes for those celebrating.
“We would like to extend our good wishes to the Hindu‚ Tamil‚ Gujerati and other communities...Diwali honours the triumph of light over darkness‚ of good over evil," he said in a statement.
Outside of India, Diwali is also celebrated in Fiji, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Africa, and the US to name a few.
